2. Robert T. Jones, Jr. Foundation Scholarship

Value: 4 scholarships at $6,000, paid in two installments, 2/3 in Fall term, 1/3 in Winter term
Eligibility:  The Canadian Robert T. Jones Scholarships are designed to reward all-around excellence in students exchanging between the University of St. Andrews, Scotland and selected Canadian universities. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate a passion for the pursuit of learning and a commitment to the ongoing life of their university and/or wider community. Available to Western students currently in their second year of an honors undergraduate program at Western, with a first year average of over 80%. Application is to be submitted along with St. Andrews application, decision is made by mid-February each year.

3. The Honourable Company of Freeman of the City of London, England Scholarship


Name: The Honourable Company of Freeman of the City of London, England Scholarship
Country: London, England
Type: Internal
Value: $5,000, of which up to $1,000 is to support travel costs, including the cost of attendance at the Annual Dinner of the Honourable Company (held in Toronto) where recipient will give a brief account of how they had benefited from the award.
Application: All applicants studying in the city of London, England, will be considered for the award.
Eligibility: 

  1. Awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student in any program of any year who has been accepted for a minimum of three months to pursue course work or significant scholarly activity at a university or college in the Greater London Authority or the City of London England.
  2. Preference to graduate students whose scholarly pursuits would benefit from the opportunity to travel and live in London, England.

Eligibility:  Awarded annually on a competitive basis to full-time undergraduate students registered in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities who have been selected to participate on an official Western University International Exchange. Preference will be given to students going on exchange for a full academic year. Applicants for this award will be evaluated on excellence in their academic record, demonstrated extra-curricular involvement and an essay. Recipients will be chosen by a committee consisting of the University Exchange Coordinator and the Dean or designate of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
Value:  Number and value of awards will be determined annually by the Exchange Office and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities based on funds available.

Preference will be given to students going on exchange for a full academic year. Eligibility:  Awarded annually to students registered at Western who are participating in an authorized International Exchange program at an international university. Selection will be based on academic achievement (minimum 70% average) and the candidate's fitness as an ambassador of Western. Students receiving any other exchange scholarship or fellowships are not eligible to receive this award. Scholarship open to main campus UWO students only.

9. Diana Beattie Exchange Scholarship


Name: Diana Beattie Exchange Scholarship
Country: Various
Type: Internal
Value: $2,500
Eligibility:  Awarded to a student in any year of any program in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, who is participating in an authorized international exchange program, based on academic achievement. Selection will be made by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Scholarships and Awards Committee in conjunction with the Exchange Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar. This scholarship was established by a generous gift from Ms. Diana Beattie through Foundation Western.

10. Richard Ivey Foundation International Exchange Scholarship


Name: Richard Ivey Foundation International Exchange Scholarship
Country: Various
Type: Internal
Value: 4 at $5,000 or as funding permits.
Eligibility: 

  1. Awarded annually to upper-year, full-time undergraduate students who have applied for the fall and/or winter term and have been accepted to participate in any International Exchange Program including Herstmonceux Castle.
  2. Students from Western's Affiliated University Colleges are eligible to apply.
  3. Students must have an 80% minimum average and will be evaluated on their overall academic record, participation in extra-curricular activities, and financial need.
  4. A one-page essay must accompany the application form and must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar by May 31.
  5. offered through the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF) program, and recipients must meet Ontario residency requirements.

12. SWEA Toronto Travel Scholarship


Name: SWEA Toronto Travel Scholarship

Value: $1,500 for full year, $1,000 for one semester
Eligibility: The scholarships are open to both graduate and undergraduate students who have been officially accepted for an exchange with a Swedish university. Awarded on the basis of academic merit and if the student can demonstrate in their letter of application that they are eager to learn about Swedish culture and society, or benefit particularly from studying in Sweden.

21. Killam Fellowships Program

Value:  $5,000 US per semester ($10,000 for the full academic year), an all expense paid three day orientation in Ottawa, and a three day all expense paid seminar in Washington. In addition, the Foundation provides all Killam Fellows with a health insurance allowance of $500 US. All Killam Fellows are also eligible to apply for a mobility (in-country travel) grant in an amount not to exceed $800 US.
